The leaves are changing, the weather is definitely showing signs of the season, and we’ve started pulling our sweatshirts out of storage. That means it’s time to start shifting into soup mode. We rounded up some of Columbus’ favorite soup serving establishments into one handy little guide to see you through spring!

Golden Chopsticks

The Korean restaurant is located on St. Mary’s Road and has been open since the 70’s. It’s always an excellent choice. They have 17 soups on the menu but our favorites are the Duk Mandu Guk, Yuke Jang, and the Kalbi Uge Gi Tang. Duk Mandu Guk is a cozy concoction of rice cake, dumpling, vegetable, and egg in a rich beef broth. Yuke Jang is a spicy beef soup with vegetables, egg, and clear noodles. Kalbi Uge Gi Tang is a bean paste soup with cabbage and short rib.

 

 

 

 

Jarfly

The Chicken Tortilla soup at Jarfly is a midtown favorite. It’s both flavorful and bright. It’s served with tortilla strips, jalapeños, avocados and lime.

 

Nonic

On Thursday evenings you can stop by Nonic for a delicious bowl of tonkotsu ramen. Throughout the fall and winter you can expect more seasonal soup specials like She-crab soup en croute and gumbo!

 

Parkers Pantry

Stop by for lunch Monday through Fridays for a different soup every day! You can pick up a copy of their monthly soup calendar so you know what to expect. Some favorites are the Country Captain, Hungarian Mushroom, and Pancetta and White Bean.

 

 

 

 

Uptown Vietnam

Pho is the perfect dish to warm your bones on a cold day. It’s a traditional beef based broth served over fresh rice noodles, topped with your choice of meat(s). The soup is garnished with chopped scallions, cilantro, and sliced white onions. Served with a plate of bean sprouts, fresh basil, cilantro, sliced jalapeño peppers and limes. Their Hu Tieu Mi is a pork based broth over your choice of rice noodles or egg noodles dressed with green lettuce, chives and sprinkled with scallions. If you’re not near Uptown you can always swing by their Big Mamma Vietnam Kitchen location in The Landings.

 

Chilli Thai Uptown

This excitement surrounding the reopening of this Uptown staple is completely warranted. Stop by this old favorite for the best bowl of Tom Kha, a coconut milk soup with galangal, lemon grass, mushroom and green onion. If you're feeling a bit under the weather, call in for some Tom Yum, a lemongrass soup with galangal, lemon grass, mushroom and green onion.

 

La Nacional Mexican Buffet

When we asked folks about their favorite soups in town, the Caldo de Pollo from La Nacional repeatedly came up. It’s a simple but richly flavored chicken soup that's packed with vegetables.

 

Bodega 1205

Stop by the beautiful Bodega for some Chicken Pio Pio, a traditional chicken soup made with celery, carrots, potatoes, and chicken paired with cuban toast.

 

 

 

 

Mizu Ramen Bar

Located on the north end of Veterans Parkway, this is more accessible to our readers on the north end of town. Stop by for lots of tasty ramen offerings like the Tonkotsu Black Ramen which is a pork broth with pork chashu, green onion, bamboo shoots, black garlic oil, garlic chips, nori, half seasoned egg , served with thin noodles. They also have vegan options!
