Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) first visited Warm Springs in 1924, seeking relief from polio, which initially affected him in 1921. Before becoming president, FDR built the Little White House in 1932 in Warm Springs, Georgia, to access the property’s 88‑degree natural springs. He was inaugurated as president in 1933. More than a vacation home, FDR’s Little White House and the surrounding town inspired many New Deal programs, and it was the place of his death on April 12, 1945.
Guests can explore facilities on the grounds, including FDR’s Little White House, a memorial museum, a legacy exhibit, a guest cottage, and the servants’ quarters. The historic Warm Springs pools and museum are currently under repair but can be viewed when open. Scavenger hunts, birding, and geocaching offer opportunities to engage with the site’s history.
The museum, grounds, house, and pools are self‑guided during open hours. Ranger‑led tours are available by reservation on Saturdays and Sundays at 10:00 a.m. for $20. Call to reserve a guided tour or visit for a quick day trip into American history.
