Meander through 2,500 acres of woodland gardens and lush natural landscapes at Callaway Gardens, about a 45‑minute drive from Columbus, Georgia.

A scenic day trip to Callaway Gardens offers guests multiple spaces to walk, talk, and learn about its history of conservation efforts and the local woodland environment. Seven trails are available for walking, and an additional trail features bike rentals for cycling. Guests can learn about the abundant flora and fauna that call Callaway home during a show at the Discovery Center. Children and adults alike can learn about butterflies and experience one of North America’s largest tropical butterfly conservatories, the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center. More than 4,000 native and hybrid azaleas burst with color throughout the Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl, which also includes a rare local azalea variety, as well as 2,000 trees and shrubs that provide year‑round foliage.

The Ida Cason Callaway Memorial Chapel is a peaceful spot for quiet reflection or to hear an organ concert performed on a custom‑built Möller pipe organ. The chapel’s design and construction are heavily influenced by the surrounding scenery, seasonal changes, and natural resources. Those looking for more action can zipline through the trees and tackle one of three courses at TreeTop Adventure.

Whether guests and families are seeking an informative, immersive day trip from Columbus, Georgia, or a more adventurous outing, Callaway Gardens offers something for everyone year‑round.
