LENNART ANDERSON: A RETROSPECTIVE

The Bo Bartlett Center
Lennart Anderson (U.S.,1928-2015) was an artist renowned for his deceptively complex paintings that transform common delicacies, mundane objects and a sitter’s calm interiority into phenomenological meditations on light, form and time. In collaboration with the Lennart Anderson estate and Leigh Morse Fine Arts, and originating from the New York Studio School, the Bo Bartlett Center will host one of the largest iterations of this first major survey featuring more than 40 works from both private and public collections, such as the Center for Figurative Painting, Brooklyn Museum, Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia, and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
SOUTH ARTS EXHIBITION

The Bo Bartlett Center
The Bo Bartlett Center is hosting the annual South Arts exhibition, which includes nine artists residing in nine southern states. These artists are selected from a pool of more than 800 applicants by a panel of jurors to receive their respective state fellowships. The artistry on display is a testament to the strength of art in the south, presenting diverse themes, visions, and styles. South Arts is a nonprofit regional arts organization empowering artists, organizations, and communities, and increasing access to arts and culture.

The Do Good Fund Gallery
The Do Good Fund is pleased to present, Pardon me, just looking, photographs by Peggy Nolan in The Do Good Fund Gallery, Columbus, GA. Peggy Nolan started photographing in the early 1980’s while living in Florida and raising seven children in a subsidized housing complex. She documented daily, the scenes taking place in her home and in her children’s lives.

Kat Cole is a full-time studio artist, educator, and community collaborator. She received her MFA at East Carolina University and BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. Cole’s work is internationally recognized and has been exhibited across Europe, Asia, and North America. Her enamel work has been published in Lark Books’ 500 Enameled Objects, Metalsmith Magazine, Ornament, American Craft and Art Jewelry Magazine.
MUSIC UNDER THE DOME: VIRTUOSITY UNPLUGGED
April 2, Reception at 5 pm with wine and cheese, and 45-minute concert at 5:37pm!
Coca-Cola Space Science Center
The last Music Under the Dome program of the season, entitled Virtuosity Unplugged, features performances that are brimming with exuberance. The program begins with Jean-Michel Damase’s fabulous Sonata for Flute and Harp, performed by Schwob students Ashlynn Mularchyk and Katie Damon. This is followed by Franz Liszt’s beautiful and challenging Liebestraum No. 3 and Wilde Jagd, performed by Schwob student Kisun Kim. The program concludes with Steve Reich’s beautiful, powerful, and fiendishly tough Music for Keyboards, Voice, and Organ, performed by the award-winning Schwob Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Paul Vaillancourt.
SPRINGER OPERA HOUSE TOURS

Springer Opera House
Any trip to Columbus is incomplete without a tour or a performance at the Springer. We provide regularly scheduled tours of the building every Wednesday (excluding Federal Holidays) at 1:30 & 3:30pm. No need for an appointment, just enter through our main Box Office entrance on 10th Street. The tours cost $10.00 a person.

Tchaikovsky’s triumphant symphony and Borodin’s evocative tone poem bookend the masterful Third Piano Concerto by Prokofiev performed by Canadian pianist Katherine Chi. With her energy, character, and spunk, her previous performances have been described as “... the most sensational but, better, the most unfailingly cogent and compelling Prokofiev’s Third I have heard in years.” Ages 4 and under are not permitted for the evening performance, but are welcomed and encouraged to attend our non-ticketed Open Rehearsal at 12:30pm the day of the concert.
