The Stacks are Open!  Chattahoochee Valley Libraries to Expand Services Including In-Person Grab & Go Browsing of Materials

October 8, 2020—COLUMBUS, GA—The four Muscogee County public library branches, plus the Cusseta-Chattahoochee and Marion County public library branches of the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries (CVL) will expand services to the public beginning Monday October 12, 2020.

Patrons will now be allowed to access and checkout materials at each branch with Grab & Go browsing, in addition to the in-person usage of the Libraries’ computers. New patrons will also be able to acquire library cards.

The Libraries’ popular new Curbside service will continue as well. This allows patrons to reserve books via their accounts at CVLGA.org and then to pick up their reservations without leaving their cars.

Health and safety of staff and patrons will remain a priority. Patrons will be required to wear masks, and temperatures will be checked at the door. Social distancing of at least six feet between patrons will be enforced. No food or drink will be allowed inside the libraries.

Use of the Libraries’ computers and Grab & Go browsing will be limited to one hour a day per patron, and the building occupancy will be limited. Once occupancy is reached, patrons will have to remain outside the building until space is available.

Chairs, tables, study rooms and meeting rooms will not be available for patrons at this time. Patrons should not plan using their own computers inside the library branches. A one hour visitation time limit will be in place.

Children under the age of 16 will need to have a caregiver over the age of 16 with them at all times.

The branches of the Chattahoochee Valley Libraries include:

Columbus Public Library, 3000 Macon Road, Columbus

Mildred L. Terry Public Library, 640 Veterans Parkway, Columbus

North Columbus Public Library, 5689 Armour Road, Columbus

South Columbus Public Library, 2034 South Lumpkin Road, Columbus

Cusseta-Chattahoochee Public Library, 262 Broad Street, Cusseta

Marion County Public Library, 123 East 5th Avenue, Buena Vista

The Parks Memorial Public Library serving Stewart County, located at 890 Wall Street in Richland, will remain open for curbside service only at this time.

CVL’s two automated 24-hour library kiosks, located at 1241 Double Churches Road in Columbus and 6600 Flat Rock Road in Midland, allow for browsing of their collection, and materials requested via the Library website CVLGA.org or CVL Library app may be delivered there for pick-up by the patron. For public safety reasons materials will need to be returned to one of the four county branches and not the kiosks.

Complete information about adjusted branch hours, Curbside service, the 24-hour kiosks and more can be found at CVLGA.org and on CVL’s new mobile app, available for Apple App store and Google Play.
