The Pastoral Institute presents the Festival of Trees

Columbus, GA--12.11.2018:  The Pastoral Institute invites you to the 1st Annual Festival of Trees at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center, December 1-18, 2018.  These forty-eight tabletop wooden trees were cut by the Harris County High School woodworking students and painted and decorated by local and regional artists.  Among the artists participating are Bruno Zupan, Teil Duncan, Allen Levi, Kate Waddell, and many more!  There are also trees painted by talented art students.  Three of the trees were painted by artists in the “Home is Where the Art Is” program.   This is a program in which local artists and students help guide and assist individuals in the homeless community to create their own unique pieces of art. “Home is Where the Art is” is a collaboration with the Chattahoochee Valley Jail Ministries, Safe-House at Rose Hill United Methodist Church and the Bo Bartlett Center.

The trees will be on display for the public to view and bid each day inside the main entrance of the Trade Center on the second-floor mezzanine.  Interested persons may stop by Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Friday and Saturday, 8:00 am-9:00 pm, (closed Sunday).  Final bidding will take place on December 18th at a closing bid reception from 5:00-6:30 pm.  These unique trees represent a variety of interests and styles.  Each one has a theme and a creative name, but they are not all holiday trees.  Themes include:  Ave Maria, A Crabby Christmas,  Be My Valentine,  Nutcracker “Sweet” and more!

The Pastoral Institute was established in 1974 as a nonprofit, faith-based, non-denominational organization that offers education and counseling services to individuals, couples, and families. Impacting thousands of lives annually, the Pastoral Institute is a valued community resource.  The Pastoral Institute depends on philanthropic support to meet the needs of the community- both at our center and in shelters around the area.  Children, adults, and families seek counseling for a variety of concerns including learning challenges, marriage counseling, grief counseling and more.   Your support of this fundraiser is the key to its success.
