Celebrate Trails Day with a Community Ride on the Man O’ War Trail

PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (APRIL 17, 2025) – The Pine Mountain Tourism Association invites residents and visitors to get outside and celebrate Celebrate Trails Day with a community ride along the scenic Man O’ War Trail on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 9 a.m., beginning at 110 Broad Street in downtown Pine Mountain.

About the Man O’ War Trail

Spanning 13.4 miles through Harris County, the Man O’ War Trail traces the historic path of the beloved diesel passenger train of the same name. Originally operated by the Central of Georgia Railway beginning in 1947, the Man O’ War ran between Columbus and Atlanta, with daily stops in Pine Mountain for over two decades. The tracks were later used for freight service until being fully decommissioned in 2007.

Today, the rail line’s legacy lives on through this paved, multi-use trail that connects Pine Mountain to Hamilton and beyond. The 10-foot-wide path is ideal for cyclists, runners, walkers, and families—even those with leashed pets. While motorized vehicles are not allowed, E-bikes are welcome, and ample parking is available at both ends of the trail and at several trail access points.

Celebrate Trails Day: A National Movement

Celebrate Trails Day is a nationwide initiative led by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, dedicated to transforming former rail lines into vibrant, connected public spaces. These trails support healthy lifestyles, sustainable transportation, and stronger communities.

“Trails bring communities together,” said Julia Keating, Executive Director of the Pine Mountain Tourism Association. “We’re proud to be part of this national celebration and to share our beautiful Man O’ War Trail with neighbors and visitors alike.”
