Autumn. Fall. Whatever you call this time of year, it conjurs up images of cooler days, getting outside and just enjoying life. This is also the time of year when outdoor activities really ramp up because the tempurature and humidity have both dipped way below 100 on their respective scales. I know we're only hours into this new season, but if you'll check the Event Calendar, you'll see that we're not wasting any time kicking off the Fall fun. It may be a little early in the week, but indulge me...as a lover of all things autumnal, I wanted to give you a head's-up on a few things you might want to work into your weekend itinerary.
There's no better way to start the weekend than by throwing your lawn chair into your car and heading to the 1000 block of Broadway after work on Friday for one of Uptown's Friday Night Concerts--this week featuring The Rock Candy Band. It's worth another visit to Uptown Saturday morning for Market Days on Broadway. You never know what you might find...art, unbelievably delicious baked goods (please let the lady with the blueberry scones be there!), live music, and this is a great time of year to pick up some local, fresh veggies. And since you'll be in the neighborhood, you have to stop in and indulge at the Uptown Beer & Wine Festival from 1:00-5:00 Saturday. There's another festival going on all day Saturday called JunkFest Returns and this one has a little bit of everything including Hula-Hooping! There's also Jazz on the River on the lawn behind the Civic Center Sunday evening. And if you're in the mood for a quick road trip, load The Rock, GA into your GPS (it's near Thomaston) and spend the day at The Rock Ranch as they kick off their Fall Family Fun Days. Two words for this event..."Pumpkin Cannon." I am so there to see that!
See what I mean about there being a lot going on this weekend? Time to start planning for some fun in your life!
