Columbus, GA—7.12.2016: What do you get when theatre teachers hold a cabaret?
At the Springer it’s called a TEACHaret and it will be a variety show of performances by Springer Theatre Academy teachers.
The second annual Springer TEACHaret will be at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 21.
The entertainment will feature musical theatre selections, dance, comedy and more. Admission is free but a $10 donation at the door is suggested.
Springer Theatre Academy merchandise and concessions will be sold.
Besides being an opportunity to share the amazing talents of the Springer Theatre Academy teachers, the TEACHaret is also a fundraiser. Among other needs, the TEACHaret seeks to raise scholarship money to give more students the opportunity to attend the Springer Theatre Academy.
“Everyone on the staff has so much talent and we wanted to give back to the Springer,” said Ixchel Samaniego, an Academy teacher and frequent actor at the Springer. “The staff was immediately on board to volunteer their time.”
Smaniego said that the TEACHaret raised $2,500 in donations last July in the McClure Theatre, the Springer’s second theatre which is a smaller, more intimate space. Because of the overwhelming response to last year’s event, this year the TEACHaret will be held in the Mainstage Theatre.
If you have questions about the TEACHaret, call the Springer Theatre Academy office at 706-324-1100.
