Springer Opera House Looking for New Faces at 2015-16 Season Auditions

Columbus, GA—April 3, 2015: Got a hankering for the roar of the greasepaint and the smell of the crowd or vice versa?

Well, here’s your opportunity: The Springer is casting local, regional and national talent for its 2015-16 season.

The company will be holding auditions for leading, supporting and chorus roles at its annual open-casting call. Although theatre professionals, theatre students and experienced non-professionals are welcome, talented amateurs and novices are also encouraged to attend, particularly those who sing and dance.

Auditions are by appointment only. Call 706-256-3490 to schedule a time slot 6-9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, May 18-20.

Adults (16 and over) who wish to be considered for leading, supporting or chorus roles in the upcoming  season should have a memorized monologue of about one minute in length or two contrasting 45-second monologues.

If you wish to be considered for a musical, you must also prepare a song 16-32 bars in length. Bring sheet music for the song. A piano accompanist will be provided.

Also for those wishing to be considered for musicals, there is a mandatory dance audition on Thursday, May 21.  Shows being cast include: “A Chorus Line,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “To Kill A Mockingbird,” “Sweeney Todd,” “The Who’s Tommy” and “Mother of Rain.”

For more information on these shows and auditions visit springeroperahouse.org.  To schedule an audition or for more information, call Aileen Fowles at 706-256-3490.
