(Columbus, GA) – For over 50 years residents of the Chattahoochee Valley have enjoyed concerts by Ft. Benning’s famed Maneuver Center of Excellence Band (MCofE 283rd Army Band). Whether together in their large Ceremonial and Concert Band units or in smaller quartet and quintets, the musicians of the Band have helped create spirit de corps among soldiers and veterans and provide patriotic spirit within the community at large.
Now the area will get to see the individual talents of the musicians on full display in an exciting new recital series at the Columbus Public Library. These concerts will feature soloists, duos and trios performing a wide range of music. The events are family-friendly and free and open to the public.
The first concert will take place Sunday, June 4 at 3:00pm in the Columbus Public Library Auditorium, 3000 Macon Road. No tickets or advance reservations are needed.
“This performance will feature members from the MCoE Band Euphonium and Percussion sections,” says Sgt. Patrick Nyren. “The musical selections will go from Bach all the way through the 21st century and expose the audience to traditional music from all over the world. There will be something for everyone as the Soldiers from the MCoE Band demonstrate their versatility and agility in a varied and exciting program.”
Free refreshments will be provided by the Muscogee County Friends of Libraries.
