Historic Westville Hires Ms. Darby Britto as Director of Public Relations and Marketing

Lumpkin, GA--3.25.2014:  Ms. Darby Britto becomes Historic Westville's Director of Public Relations
and Marketing. She takes charge of Westville's public relations and marketing
activities to help raise awareness of its programs and activities. She also will be
playing a pivotal role in the publicity of Westville's move to its new location in
Columbus. Executive Director Leo Goodsell said "We are fortunate to have
Ms. Britto join our team. We are entering an exciting new phase in Westville
history with its move to Columbus. Ms. Britto's media experience will be essential
to a successful publicity program."

Ms. Britto's media career as a broadcast producer, director, and manager has
taken her from Atlanta and Washington, DC, to Ohio, Texas and Oregon. Darby
began her career with WAGA-TV in Atlanta and then to an NBC station in
Washington DC. She moved to Cox Broadcasting WHIO-TV, Dayton, Ohio, as
Production Manager where she managed three integrated departments of
producer/director, graphics and retail production staff. Her team produced news
and non-news programs. From 1995 through 2009 she was Broadcast Operations
Manager for KATU-TV Portland, Oregon. With her leadership they implemented
a Spanish language newscast. Prior to joining the Westville team, she was a
strategic researcher for Pam Pulner and Associates in Washington DC, where
she identified prospective job candidates for placement in broadcasting.

She likens a media career to growing up the daughter of a career army officer.
Ms. Britto said "I learned early on that I would be going where the job took me."
This position brings her back to Columbus and Fort Benning where she grew up.
Darby is a graduate of the University of Georgia Grady School of Journalism and
Baker High School in Columbus.

Ms. Britto says that Westville is working on an all-encompassing marketing and
promotions plan including heavy use of social media and web-based
communications --- using twenty first century technology to tell the stories of the
nineteenth century ---- to keep our communications fresh and compelling.

In addition to her work at Westville, Darby is the current president of the North
Words Toastmasters Club and a Vice President of Publicity for the Columbus Artists'
Guild.
