2016 Patricia Jackson Howard Memorial Scholarship

 

 

Columbus, GA--May 16, 2016:  Mrs. Denzel Williams of Shaw High School was awarded the 23rd annual Patricia Jackson Howard Memorial Scholarship.  Mr. Williams was selected from several applicants for his commitment to academics and dedication to overcome his circumstances.   The award will be presented to Denzel at the Shaw High School Senior Awards on May 16th at 6:30 pm at the school.

 

Mr. Williams is an exceptional student and very involved as a Shaw Ambassador, member of Key Club, Drama Club lead role, and FBLA.  Throughout high school, Denzel has been dedicated to his studies and listed on the honor role the past 2 years.  He is planning to study business and marketing at Columbus State University.          

 

Other outstanding seniors, Miss Mallory Wood of Columbus High School; Mr. Dylan Rice of Columbus High School; and Miss Adoria Hughes of Northside High School were awarded an autographed copy of the book Images: A Pictorial History of Columbus by noted Columbus historian F. Clason Kyle for their efforts.

 

The Patricia Jackson Howard Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Howard, who served as the second Executive Director of Historic Columbus from 1989-1992.  The scholarship provides $2,500 to the recipient.
