Columbus Entertainment 100 Event to Highlight Region for Filmmakers, Entertainment Executives

Columbus, GA—June 5, 2019:  The Columbus Entertainment 100 event, presented by the Columbus Film Commission, Flat Rock Studios, Columbus State University and Georgia Entertainment News, is set for June 19th. The evening affair will host the who’s who of entertainment including directors, producers and studio executives.

“As one of the first camera ready communities in the state, we have seen tremendous growth in film, music and gaming in Columbus,” says Peter Bowden, President and CEO of VisitColumbusGA and the Columbus Film Commission. “Living and working in Columbus, it’s easy to see the natural beauty and creative culture of our workforce. The Entertainment 100 event provides an outlet to show productions that Columbus is committed to their success in every way.”

“Since officially announcing the Columbus Film Fund at the Choose Georgia event at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, 20 prospects have approached the Columbus Film Commission,” continued Mr. Bowden.  “Eight of those are in negotiations.  This also includes The Long Night, starring Bruce Willis, with production currently underway.  The Columbus Film Fund is a $5 million privately funded local incentive; a grant to cover additional expenses when filming in Columbus.  Workforce, infrastructure, and incentive are the three key components now in place to make Columbus Georgia’s 3rd film hub.”

“It’s well-known that Columbus has a very progressive government that collaborates closely with the private sector. The two have come together to create initiatives and an environment that rival first-tier cities,” says Randy Davidson, President of Georgia Entertainment News. “We are proud to partner with Peter and his team at the Columbus Film Commission to host this event.”

The purpose of such an exclusive, invitation-only event is to create a learning atmosphere to share more about Columbus while networking without distractions that often occur at open invitation type programs.
