4000 High School Theatre Students to Attend Columbus Georgia Thespian Conference in February

More than 4000 High School Theatre Students are coming to Columbus to Showcase their Talents and learn from the Pros at the Georgia Thespian Conference in February

 

Columbus, GA—For three days in February, downtown Columbus will play host to more than 4000 aspiring actors, singers, dancers, playwrights, designers, and technical wizards at the 2015 Georgia Thespian Conference. Stages at the River Center, Columbus State University, and the historic Springer Opera House will showcase dozens of exceptional high school productions. The Columbus Trade Center will host an array of theatre workshops and exhibitions.

The massive event will included educational and competitive opportunities for the state’s top high school theatre students. More than 75 theatre professionals and educators will join these students to lead classes in all aspects of theatre. The conference will host luminaries from Broadway and some of America’s most renowned theatres. Theatre-arts professors from stellar universities and conservatories across the country will be on hand to provide educational opportunities for Georgia’s theatre students and to scout for top talent. The Georgia Thespian Conference is the nation’s second largest such convocation of theatre-arts students

State Thespian Director Paul Hampton, says, “We are excited to hold our conference in Columbus for the seventh straight year. The beautiful theatre spaces and outstanding conference facilities are the ideal places for Georgia’s Thespians. We appreciate all of the support and kind hospitality extended to us by the citizens and city officials of Columbus.”

The Thespian Conference begins on Thursday, February 5 and concludes on Saturday evening, February 7.

Georgia Thespians is one of the largest state chapters of the International Thespian Society, the 86-year-old honor society for high school theatre. Students are invited to membership in the society in recognition of exceptional and extensive commitment to the performing arts in their schools and communities. Being inducted into the Thespian Society is the highest honor a high school theatre student can receive.
