New Partnership with RiverCenter off to Great Start with $30,000 Gift

Columbus, GA - February 20, 2015 - The Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens is the largest single contributor to the Arts in the Chattahoochee Valley. Since the first race in 1985, the Steeplechase has given nearly $3.5 million to its existing beneficiaries: The Columbus Museum, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Historic Columbus Foundation, Springer Opera House and the Ida Cason Callaway Foundation. In September of 2014, Steeplechase announced that they would be adding a sixth beneficiary, RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.

Prior to the performance of Swan Lake at RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, Steeplechase Executive Director Kim Jinks and 2014 Race Director Laura Wickham presented a check to Advancement Director Lauren Minter and Executive Director Bill Bullock of RiverCenter. RiverCenter has pledged 100% of this $30,000 gift to its Ticket-For-Tots program to provide free or reduced admission to underserved children to attend educational performances throughout its season.

Efforts and finances from the race directly impact the economic development and enhance the quality of life for our community; therefore Steeplechase is delighted to partner with RiverCenter in an effort to make this the best community it can be.

The Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens, known as the “event of the season” and always falling on the first Saturday in November, brings family and friends together to watch thoroughbred horses race over timber and brush hurdles. For thirty years, we have been "Racing for the Arts."
