Gardening Weekend at Callaway Gardens March 26-29

Plant Fair & Sale Features Items Unique to the South; Gardening School and Workshop; Spring Beauty

PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (3/2/2015) – Head to Callaway Gardens for new gardening knowledge, inspiration, ideas, and plants for your garden.  Be sure to bring a plant list and a vehicle large enough to take home all of the great finds from the Callaway Gardens Annual Plant Fair and Sale, March 26-29, 2015.

Annual Plant Fair and Sale
“We will have an incredible array of herbs, flowering plants – both annuals and perennials - and shrubs as well as garden decor,” said Patricia Collins, director of the Gardens.  “This is a wonderful opportunity to buy items that are very unique and sometimes hard-to-find.”

In addition to Callaway Gardens’ plants and specialty items, more than a dozen nurseries and specialty vendors from throughout the Southeast will have plants for sale, answer plant-related questions and offer their unique garden-related wares.  Some of those participating include: Big Frog Nursery, Blue Meadows Farm, Castle Rock Honey, Chattahoochee Valley Day Lily Society, Delvecchio Japanese Maple Nursery, Dip & Dap Wood Krafts, Fiddleheads, Garden Delights, Hollonville Nursery, Joy’s Life Bread, Massee Lane Camellia Gardens, Our Secret Garden, and Petals from the Past, and Sabatino’s Ceramics.

The Plant Fair and Sale will be open to the public Thursday, March 26 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; March 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission to the Plant Fair and Sale at the Beach Dome at Robin Lake Beach is free when entering through the Beach gate on U.S. Hwy. 27.

Gardening Guru Workshop Led by Expert Helen Phillips
On Thursday, March 26, spend the morning with knowledgeable, hands-on gardener Helen Phillips as she shares her experiences and gardening tips gleaned from her years working the soil, designing gardens and giving gardening advice far and wide.  Learn from her trials, errors and successes: sun and shade gardens, country and city grounds, patio gardens to estate-scale gardens, and also redoing existing garden spots from the ground up.  Whether you want out-of-the-box or traditional, be inspired and ready for the upcoming gardening season.

After lunch, enjoy the opportunity to have a guided walk-through of the Callaway Gardens Plant Fair and Sale with Helen to find the best plants for your needs and/or desires.  The cost is $48 per person and includes lunch.

To register for the Gardening with Guru Workshop, call the Education Department at 1.844.265.7906 or email education@callawaygardens.com.

Take it all in by staying overnight with the special “workshop rate” in the recently renovated Mountain Creek Inn for $99.  Simply call 1.800.463.6990 or visit www.callawaygardens.com.
