CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY LIBRARIES UNVEIL VIRTUAL PROGRAMS AND “SPRING INTO SUMMER READING”

Columbus, GA – The Chattahoochee Valley Libraries (CVL) is pleased to announce a full line-up of virtual programs designed to entertain, enlighten and educate all ages during the next several weeks.

Based on the library staff’s expertise in staging thousands of programs each year, these events will feature the same great storytimes, genealogy lessons, music and concert performances, art lectures, escape rooms, trivia contests and more that customers have grown to love when visiting their local library.

In addition, CVL is beginning the always-popular Summer Reading Challenge early this year, with gift certificates being awarded weekly to lucky winners of all ages who read 10 books or for four hours.

VIRTUAL PROGRAMS

On April 20th CVL began hosting a large number of programs created by library staff and various community partners and community friends. These online events explore a wide variety of topics in a fun format, and any age can anticipate several programs weekly dedicated specifically to their interests. A wide variety of platforms will be used (including Facebook, YouTube, Google Hangouts and more) to make each event unique.

In addition to programs produced by library staff, CVL will be cross-posting virtual events from community partners such as the Columbus Museum and Columbus Symphony, as well as from authors and entertainers who have visited the Libraries in the past few years.
Anyone is free to attend! A complete of programs can be found at CVLGA.org – just click on the “Spring into Summer Reading” link for the weekly schedule.

DIAL-A-STORY

CVL is bringing back a popular program from the past with Dial-A-Story! Designed specifically for those who cannot currently connect to the Internet, Dial-A-Story will offer several tales for young and older children in both English and Spanish. The titles will change weekly.
All patrons have to do is call CVL’s main number 706.763.8121 and press 1, then follow the directions!

SPRING INTO SUMMER READING

Summer Reading starts early… and anyone attending a Virtual Program can participate as well! The rules are simple – younger kids can read 10 books, and older kids, teens and adults can read for 4 hours. That’s it! Reading that equals one completion and an entry into the weekly drawing for gift certificates and the end-of-summer Grand Prize drawing for games, electronics, books and more.
Individuals and families can sign up by going to CVLGA.org and clicking on the “Spring Into Summer Reading” link for information on how to sign up with our registration partner READsquared.
Attending virtual programs? They can also earn points towards Summer Reading completions. They can be registered via the same READsquared platform as well. Each virtual program can count for up to 10% of a completion.

And don’t stop reading or attending programs… participants can earn one completion per day, and each completion earns the reader another prize entry.
