Columbus Botanical Garden

Winners from Disney-Themed Scarecrow Competition & Monetary Prizes Awarded at Noon

Columbus, Ga., October 18, 2018 – Autumn is upon us, the leaves are changing, the temperatures are cooler, and children are begging their parents to find the perfect Halloween costume. For these reasons and more, Columbus Botanical Garden (CBG) is excited to host its annual fall festival and plant sale: “Foliage, Flowers & Fun”Saturday, October 27th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 3603 Weems Road. The festival includes a Disney-themed scarecrow competition featuring three categories: elementary, middle school and high school/young adult. Judges will award first, second and third place prizes of $100, $50 and $25 respectively and winners will be announced at noon that day. For $10 per child, children will have unlimited access to all activities including bouncy houses, rock climbing, a petting zoo, face painting, arts and crafts, archery demonstration and more. Accompanying parents will enjoy free admission.

“The festival provides an opportunity for children to play, gardeners and plant lovers to buy plants, local businesses to showcase their wares, and families to enjoy down time in their beautiful community garden. With fall in the air, many of us are looking to add seasonal color to our yards, and we hope folks will choose to shop CBG for all their fall planting. The fall festival and plant sale is another excellent example of our staff, board and dedicated volunteers working together to host a family-friendly event at the CBG,” said Executive Director Stefan Bloodworth. He continued, “Children are encouraged to wear costumes, and the first 100 children in costume will receive a gift bag full of goodies.”

In addition to the plants that will be for sale under the CBG tent, the festival will include the following vendors: Fite Studios, Bird Houses of Ornithology, The Frigid Frog Icees, Brother Tucker BBQ, Beautifully Hued, Garden Delights, Fern Ridge Farms, Cee: The Cake Lady, SunCatchers Tanning & Mobile Gift Boutique, Wreaths Tutus & More, Bethany Nichols Nails, Paparazzi Jewelry (Cynthia Robinson), Lillian’s Totes, Angela’s Natural Soaps, OscarGurlz Jewelry, and Quality Custom Landscaping.
