Annual Easter Events Planned at Callaway Gardens

Tethered Balloon Rides, Easter Egg Hunt, Fun Run, Sunrise Service, Brunches, and More Offer Something for Everyone

PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (04/07/2017) – Enjoy Easter weekend with your family this year at Callaway Gardens® during the weekend of April 15-16, 2017.  As in years past, Callaway Gardens has family-friendly activities planned for the whole weekend.

Family Activities

The day will begin with what appears to be a giant, colored Easter egg floating in the sky … but it’s actually a Tethered Hot Air Balloon* ride.  For a small fee, guests can experience the gentle feeling of floating in a hot air balloon.  Saturday tethered rides* will be available 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. and cost $10 per person.

A Bunny Hop Children’s Fun Run will be open to all children that would like to participate at Noon on Saturday.  It will be followed by The Great Bunny Chase 5K at 12:30 p.m.  Pre-registration for the 5K is available at www.active.com or onsite prior to the event.

The Easter Bunny will visit from Noon to 5 p.m. with whom boys and girls can have their Easter photo taken and enjoy the festivities.

The traditional Callaway Gardens Easter Egg Hunts will be on Saturday, April 15, at Robin Lake Beach.  Egg hunters will set out to find thousands of candy eggs, along with some very special prize eggs.  The hunt for Toddlers to 3-year-olds will start at 2 p.m.  The other age groups (4 to 18 year olds) will hunt simultaneously in dedicated areas at 2:30 p.m.  Egg hunts are included with admission to Callaway Gardens.  Guests should bring an Easter basket.

After the egg hunts, Missing Peace will entertain guests with featured lead singer 15-year-old Marty Joe Barnes.

Sunday Sunrise Service

The annual Easter Sunrise Service will be Sunday, April 16, at 7 a.m. on the ski pavilion on the west-side of Robin Lake Beach. Marc Pritchett of R.U.S.H. Ministries and Mountain View Baptist Church of Thomaston, Ga., will deliver the Easter Sunday message. The natural beauty of Callaway Gardens during the early morning hours serves as a magnificent backdrop to this service and beautiful music.  Guests should enter through the Beach gate on U. S. Hwy. 27. Gate admission will apply.  Annual passholders and overnight guests will receive complimentary entry.

Enjoy These Options for Easter Brunch

After the Sunrise Service, guests can enjoy Callaway Gardens’ popular Easter Brunch featuring dozens of delicious selections at The Lodge and Spa’s Piedmont Dining Room.  The Callaway Gardens culinary team, led by Chef Sid Kurrimbukus, will have something to please every palate with choices from honey-glazed Virginia ham with whole grain mustard and grilled Atlantic salmon to French-cut chicken breast with a balsamic reduction as well as a variety of other delectable brunch items.  Guests may indulge themselves with desserts such as Georgia pecan pie, key lime pie, New York Cheesecake, and more. Advanced reservations are required by calling 1.855.421.4233.

The Gardens Restaurant will offer an Easter meal Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Guests may choose an appetizer, entrée and dessert from a prix fixe Easter menu for $55* per adult. For reservations, please call 1.855.901.2154.

The Country Kitchen will offer a plated meal from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
