Go All Out For Blues, Jazz, Rock, and More

As the holidays near and you look for places to go and things to do with friends and your special someone, the music scene in Columbus is worth checking out. On 1032 Broadway, The Loft in Uptown, keeps opening their doors to some of the best local acts this side of Atlanta. A restaurant and a music club, The Loft is at the center of the Columbus musical experience throughout the week and especially on the weekends. Blues and Jazz are plentiful, but the lineup is varied with independent bands as well as touring bands from around the country. Make sure you check out The Loft’s schedule, especially during the Holidays to help create that perfect weekend.

If you are interested in music history, make time to also check out the Ma Rainey House and Blues Museum on 805 5th Avenue. Ma Rainey was known as the “Mother of the Blues.” She mentored and toured with some of the greatest names in blues and jazz during her time, such as Louis Armstrong, Thomas A. Dorsey, Blind Blake, and more. She was revered as a pioneer of the Blues genre and her former home-turned-museum tells her story and part of the story of American music.

Whether you find street performers, music clubs, or voices from days gone by, music is where Columbus’ past and present meet to create a beautiful sound to carry the city into the future. Spend a weekend with us and enjoy what Columbus has to offer. Maybe you’ll leave singing a different tune than before!
