Looking to spruce up a room, or add something unique to a part of your house? The Southern Lovin' Junkin’ Show is coming to Columbus, Georgia April 13-15, 2018 at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. This vintage and handmade market will have antiques, repurposed, one-of-a-kind finds that you will cherish forever. Not only will you be able to find awesome pieces of furniture for your living spaces, but Friday April 13th from 5pm-9pm, the VIP Southern Lovin’ Late Night takes place where you will get three day access to the event, be entertained by live entertainment while you shop that night, along with food and beverages. Day two, on April 14th, will start at 10am and go until 6pm. New finds will be for sale on this day, so if you can't make it on Friday you'll have a fresh start on Saturday to find the perfect piece. Day three begins at 12pm and lasts until 5pm. This will be your final chance to find great deals on unique items. Since it is the last day, you may get lucky and make a purchase for less money than was ticketed for, but keep in mind that many furniture pieces are first come first serve in limited quantities. Sunday will be your final opportunity to steal a bargain on an awesome antique or one-of-a-kind find. Admission is $10 Friday April 13th for a VIP ticket, and $5 gets you in Saturday and Sunday. Children 12 & under are admitted FREE. While you are here in Columbus, GA, stay a while and enjoy the other events we have going on that weekend. Friday April 13th Columbus will have a Friday Night Concert on Broadway starting at 7pm until 10pm, and Saturday April 14th, Paddle South, the 2018 USA Freestyle Kayak National Championships and the Omaha Brewing Paddle Party in the Power House overlooking the Chattahoochee River, will be going on this same weekend. You can’t miss out on everything going on, so why not make a weekend of it! Come enjoy the beautiful southern weather, watch how intense freestyle kayaking is, go hunting for antiques, and spend a nice evening in Uptown indulging in some of the amazing food Columbus, GA has to offer. Spring is here, it's when the flowers start blooming and the concerts start playing! Uptown’s Spring Friday Night Concert Series will be in full swing on April 6. Columbus, Georgia is putting its best foot forward with nature’s beauty along the Chattahoochee. Beautiful gardens, nice evening walks, great food, music, art, and so much more. One of the best kept secrets in the Deep South is a weekend in the classic Southern city of Columbus where old, new, and adventure all merge together. Come for Uptown’s Spring Friday Night Concert Series with one great act after another guaranteeing that every weekend in the Spring will be full of great music, fun, and a chance to hang out with friends old and new. Uptowns' Spring Friday Night Concert Series is BACK! Starting April 6 there will be a concert every Friday night kicking off at 7:30 pm lasting until 10 pm. All concerts are FREE and open to all ages. Bring your lawn chair, blanket, pets and family for a night of great music and fun! Columbus has a St. Patrick’s Day full of things to do that will leave you feeling the luck of the Irish. Whether it be shaving it all off for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, grabbing a pint at Scruffy Murphy’s Irish Pub & Eatery, heel clicking past the finish line in true leprechaun style in the Big Dog Fleet Feet St. Paddy’s 5k race, or doing an Irish jig out on Broadway while enjoying the outdoor band concerts, you are bound to have a shamROCKIN’ time! St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year, with events lasting all evening inviting guests to grab their green, get out and have some fun! Columbus will help you with that by doing what we do best and throwing a street party at the 1000 block of Broadway! Uptown Columbus & Scruffy Murphy's Irish Pub & Eatery are shutting down Broadway & painting it green! Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day so come out and join in the fun! All the events are FREE and family friendly! Activities start Saturday March 17 at 3:00 pm and last until 10:00 pm, but that doesn’t mean you can’t start the party early! Head down to Scruffy Murphy’s Pub & Eatery and enjoy authentic Irish pub food with a fresh pint of your favorite beer. Before you know it, at 3:00 pm PMB Broadcasting, LLC will be jamming out to some Irish beats until 3:30 pm when Celtic/Irish dancers will take the stage. Once the dancers have showed us how it is done St. Baldrick’s Foundation will be shaving heads for charity that funds childhood cancer at 4:00 pm, and after that Music starts at 5:00 pm with the locally grown Irish/Celtic/Folk band Wolf & Clover. At 6:30 pm the Big Dog Fleet Feet St. Paddy’s 5k race starts, then at 7:00 pm music kicks back up with The Ragbirds, a band originating from Michigan who bring something new to the realm of folk/roots music. Make a weekend of it and stay in Columbus. Then, visit our world-class museums, go white water rafting, eat at great restaurants, shop, and partake in as many adventures as you can fit in the weekend! Our family will, from time to time, sit around the table (especially after having seen the latest Marvel or DC movie) and will talk about what it would be like to actually BE a super hero. You ever use your imagination that way? Well, now, your imagination came come to life a bit more easily! Join us for the weekend of February 24-25 and go “All Out” for Super Hero Weekend 2018! What are you doing this Saturday? What are you doing this weekend? How often do you think about that early in the week when you don’t have other plans already nailed down? Columbus has a weekend vacation alternative for you during the Winter months that might be surprising. Come on a Friday night and take in a great dinner or a show at one of our local theaters. Do some shopping at our malls and retail stores, or do window shopping with a stroll down Broadway. Then, on Saturday morning, visit Market Days on Broadway, our year-round Saturday morning craft and farmer’s market. Encompassing several blocks, you will find all kinds of things to look at, buy, and bring home! Schedule a local historical and sightseeing tour. Visit one of our great museums. Take a walk along the Riverwalk and the Chattahoochee River. Enjoy a bike ride and some great outdoor fun! There is absolutely no reason to sit at home on a weekend in the Winter when Columbus is nearby and offers adventure, fun, beauty, access to the outdoor experiences and indoor learning, great food, markets and shopping, music, and so much more! All of the wrapping paper is put away, the tree is growing brittle, the cookies and egg nog have been consumed (too much so), family and guests have gone home (or not), and the family is growing restless. What do you do in the last days of the year that are short, cold, and often aimless? Columbus has some options for you! It makes for a perfect place for an overnight trip to visit military and history museums, take nature hikes, bike rides, walking tours, eat at great restaurants, catch a Broadway quality show, and explore the history and scenery of the Chattahoochee River Valley. Take a local historic sightseeing tour that explores Columbus from many different angles. Or, plan a trip to the “Fantasy in Lights” at the incredible, beautiful, nearby Callaway Gardens and stay in Columbus as a home base. Visit the Smithsonian quality National Infantry Museum and the National Civil War Naval Museum . There is so much to do! The time between Thanksgiving and the New Year is spent with Holiday fun, food, family, and plenty of festivities! Did you know that Columbus has all of that available to enjoy? Every weekend of the season has great food, music, festivities, plays and shows, exhibits, and so much more! Let’s take a look at what just one upcoming holiday weekend has to offer! We kick off the Christmas season with the Broadway Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting on December 1st from 6:30-8:30 pm! There will be decorated Christmas trees lining Broadway and a lot more: Christmas lovers rejoice as Santa is escorted in by his entourage, including special guest appearances from Santa, the Coca-Cola Polar Bear, and Mayor Teresa Tomlinson Sing along to traditional Christmas carols at the lighting of the giant Christmas tree and play in the SNOW! There will be hot chocolate, candy canes and lots of fun for the entire family. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday attire and to bring their camera to partake in the many photo opportunities! Over the weekend of December 1st - 3rd in Columbus, you can see the Broadway musical, Newsies, at the Springer Opera House or Fancy Nancy’s Splendiferous Christmas or attend the CSU Broadway Ball all on Friday night! Then, you can enjoy shopping at an outdoor holiday market on Saturday morning at Market Days on Broadway. After that, fill your afternoon with wonder at a Victorian Christmas Open House at the National Civil War Museum and a One Hour Sightseeing Tour of the local attractions. End the evening with a great meal at one of our fabulous Uptown restaurants! That is just one of our weekends over the holiday season! Of course, we have amazing places to shop and experience holiday fun, great restaurants to eat at, places to get treats, and it will all be decorated beautifully for Christmas!
