Coca Cola-Space Science Center From my own experience as a Columbus native, as well as numerous TripAdvisor reviews, this is a Columbus gem and every member of your family – young or old – will love this adventure. Ever wanted to experience first-hand what it’s like to fly to the moon? Or land on Mars?

All summer long in the South, families and individuals make their trek down to the beach or to the lake. The heat can get to you and the desire to get cool in water sports and fun is high.

(Kayakers on the Chattahoochee River in Uptown Columbus) You HAVE to join us in Uptown Columbus this weekend! Great sports do not always involve a ball! Sometimes, they involve wheels, paddles, and speed on the river and the road! This weekend, Columbus will be hosting international sporting events with some great food and music thrown in as well.

Music, food trucks, activities, dragon boat races, fun and games for the family, and whole lot more! It will all happen at Woodruff Park on May 5th and 6th and the festival is FREE! With the warm weather of Spring upon us, Columbus is going all out to enjoy the warm days and cool nights with a trio of outdoor festivals at the river over the next few weeks! Don’t say you don’t have anything to do! Columbus is inviting you down to the river for whitewater fun, great food, music, and tons of outdoor activities for the whole family! Explore Georgia highlights the upcoming festivals. First is Paddle South, April 14-15th, at the Eagle and Phenix water tower. The 2017 USA Freestyle Kayak National Championships will be taking place. That will be great, but I’m even more excited about the accompanying beer and barbecue festival with around 20 BBQ vendors putting out their very best offerings! Nothing says Spring in the South like sitting along the river and eating BBQ! Entrance is $5 for the festival. Next up is Uptown’s RiverFest on May 5th and 6th. This is one of the biggest events of the year on Columbus and officially kicks off the Whitewater Season. Events will take place all weekend in Woodruff Park and all over the RiverWalk with the kickoff of the Uptown Concert Series and many other activities. And, it is all FREE! Finally, we have the 10th Annual Frogtown Crawfish Festival happening the next weekend at Woodruff Park along the river on Friday, May 12th, from 5pm to 11pm and Saturday, May 13th, from 9am to 11pm. This festival will include live music, food, inflatables, arts and crafts, vendors, games, and, of course, a massive crawfish boil. Admission is $10, but kids 12 and under get in free! Spring Festival season in Columbus provides so many opportunities to Go All Out! We hope to see you there!

No doubt the highlight of the upcoming 2017 PaddleSouth competition will be the unparalleled talent showing off their kayaking skills on the Columbus, GA Whitewater Course, April 14-15. But don't forget about all the other stuff happening as part of this event! We've teased you with details on the freestyle kayak action and the tempting aroma of the barbecue competition, but don't overlook some of the other components of this jam-packed weekend like the Omaha Brewing Biergarten and all the live music on stage. Beer lovers rejoice! The Omaha Brewing Biergarten will offer a spectacular view of the Chattahoochee River while you enjoy some liquid refreshment from Columbus’ closest craft brewery. Bringing multiple craft beers, this section of the festival promises to be a hot-spot! And nothing goes better with ice cold brew than some incredible live music and PaddleSouth has got the music covered! Caleb Gambel has a voice like butter and Big Saxxy was born to amaze with his top notch saxophone talent. They'll be on stage from 4:00-6:00pm. Then, sticking with the southern, down-by-the-river theme, festival goers will get down to Blackberry Possum, a local bluegrass band. Boats, Beer, and Bands. The 2017 PaddleSouth Compeption sounds like a perfect weekend to me!
