The time between Thanksgiving and the New Year is spent with Holiday fun, food, family, and plenty of festivities! Did you know that Columbus has all of that available to enjoy? Every weekend of the season has great food, music, festivities, plays and shows, exhibits, and so much more! Let’s take a look at what just one upcoming holiday weekend has to offer! We kick off the Christmas season with the Broadway Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting on December 1st from 6:30-8:30 pm! There will be decorated Christmas trees lining Broadway and a lot more: Christmas lovers rejoice as Santa is escorted in by his entourage, including special guest appearances from Santa, the Coca-Cola Polar Bear, and Mayor Teresa Tomlinson Sing along to traditional Christmas carols at the lighting of the giant Christmas tree and play in the SNOW! There will be hot chocolate, candy canes and lots of fun for the entire family. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite holiday attire and to bring their camera to partake in the many photo opportunities! Over the weekend of December 1st - 3rd in Columbus, you can see the Broadway musical, Newsies, at the Springer Opera House or Fancy Nancy’s Splendiferous Christmas or attend the CSU Broadway Ball all on Friday night! Then, you can enjoy shopping at an outdoor holiday market on Saturday morning at Market Days on Broadway. After that, fill your afternoon with wonder at a Victorian Christmas Open House at the National Civil War Museum and a One Hour Sightseeing Tour of the local attractions. End the evening with a great meal at one of our fabulous Uptown restaurants! That is just one of our weekends over the holiday season! Of course, we have amazing places to shop and experience holiday fun, great restaurants to eat at, places to get treats, and it will all be decorated beautifully for Christmas! Spend the weekend in Columbus as we host the 5th Annual Food Truck Festival over Veteran’s Day Weekend! Don’t you love street food? Food trucks? Those amazing little set ups with amazing offerings outside where you can see and smell what’s cooking? Imagine a street fair full of outdoor mobile kitchens ready for you to walk by and take a taste! That’s what will be available for the 5th Annual Food Truck Festival in Columbus on November 11th from 11am - 5pm. Uptown Columbus & Atlanta Street Food Coalition will host the 5th Annual Food Truck Festival in Columbus, Georgia. Join us on November 11th from 11am - 5pm as Woodruff Park and Dillingham Bridge transform into a Food Truck Mecca. 25 GOURMET FOOD TRUCKS will set up in our backyard with DJ Dave Arwood playing jams all afternoon! The full list of trucks to come soon, as well as libations in our craft beer garden! Admission cost $5 per person; children 12 and younger are free. Please bring $5 CASH to the gate. Again, CASH ONLY. With dozens of restaurants represented, this will be one of the tastiest events of the year! Come enjoy the long Veteran’s Day weekend in Columbus and plan a visit to the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning as well as many of the other attractions in the area. Take in a show on Saturday evening at Springer Theater or enjoy the cool evening a walk along Broadway Uptown. With great food, music, museums, theater, and so much else to do, Columbus provides the perfect getaway for you to “go all out” and enjoy the weekend!

Now that school for families is back in session and the summer months are coming to a close, the need for weekend getaways for the family and couples is more urgent than ever! At least that’s how we see it in Columbus! The weather is still perfect for rafting on the Chattahoochee River downtown, for strolls along the tree-lined streets of Uptown, for Saturday morning outdoor shopping at Market Days on Broadway, one of the largest outdoor markets in the South, and for so much more! Explore the incredible museums that Columbus has to offer, such as the National Infantry Museum, the National Civil War Naval Museum, and the Columbus Museum. Engage in outdoor adventures such as ziplining, kayaking, white water rafting, and biking. Eat incredible food at some of the best restaurants in the South, enjoy a show at the Springer Opera House or RiverCenter for the Performing Arts, or listen to live music at one of the incredible music clubs downtown. The opportunities for a weekend getaway for ether you and your significant other or the whole family are endless! Just because summer is ending doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy weekend getaways in the Deep South in a place that knows how to merge the beauty of nature with the conveniences and expressions of modern life, all literally in the same space! Frogtown Crawfish Festival Kicks off Friday, May 12 in Woodruff Park! Looks like another perfect Spring weekend to get out find some fun adventures in Columbus, GA! And one thing you really should put on your list to check out is the 2017 Frogtown Crawfish Festival in Woodfuff Park in Uptown Columbus. This will be the 10th year for this festival and it all kicks off Friday, May 12 (6:00-11:30pm) and all day on Saturday with things cranking up at 10:00am and going all the way until 11:30pm. Both days will be full of all sorts of fun—anything from arts & crafts, games, inflatables, raffles—stuff everyone in the family will enjoy. If it’s live music you’re in the mood for, take a beach chair, find a good spot and prepare to be entertained! On the line-up is a Pink Floyd Tribute Band, a Dave Matthews Tribute Band, Groove Monkeys, Stay Classy, Misty Harbor, Damn Skippy and lots more. And you can’t have a Crawfish Festival without loads of great food…including a Crawfish Boil both days. I’ve never had the chance to sample this delicacy, so this will be my chance to give it a try! It’s only $10 for adult entry and kids 12 and under get in free, so this is a perfect family outing…and you get to dive into a big bowl of delicious crawfish! That does look pretty tasty!!

Go for All Out Fun at Uptown’s RiverFest This Weekend! Columbus is preparing for the beginning of its Summer Whitewater Season with one of the biggest weekends of the year, the Uptown RiverFest! Music, food trucks, activities, dragon boat races, fun and games for the family, and whole lot more! It will all happen at Woodruff Park on May 5th and 6th and the festival is FREE! The Columbus riverfront will be full of activity this weekend with stand-up paddling, kayaking, rafting, and zip lining with Whitewater Express. The Dillingham Street Bridge will be the site of food trucks and booths from local restaurants. There will be booths for crafts and local art as well. Live music will be filling up the evenings and of course, all the restaurants and shops on Broadway will be open and welcoming. It really is one of the best weekends of the year to visit Columbus! There’s still time to make plans and make a weekend out of it. Stay in one of our Uptown hotels so that everything is within walking distance. We hope to see you!
