Holiday Fun is in the Air in Columbus, GA!

We're getting close…you can feel the holiday excitement in the air! And this weekend, there's a lot to choose from if you want to get out with family and friends and have some fun.

Let's start off with an incredible bunch of insanely talented folks that make up the group Cantus Columbus. They are performing this Sunday (7:30pm) at Legacy Hall inside RiverCenter for the Performing Arts and it's their holiday program called "A Cantus Christmas: Message of the Season-Music of the Masters." The concert will also feature the Atlanta Symphony Brass Quintet and tenor Bradley Howard. Here's a tip for you…this show sells out every year, so I highly recommend you get tickets as soon as possible. I was able to attend this last year and it was so good that I swear I had goosebumps for hours after it was over! And if you've never been to a show in Legacy Hall, it has to be one of the most outstanding performance spaces I've ever seen and the perfect place for an evening of beautiful Christmas music. Tickets are $33. (706.256.3612)

So, are you in the need for a good chuckle this holiday season? If you hear what sounds like people rolling on the floor and extremely loud laughter coming form the Springer Opera House , don’t be alarmed. It’s just the audience watching A Tuna Christmas. This too has become a Columbus tradition. If you’ve never seen this show, it is high time you celebrate Christmas in Tuna Texas. Tuna is Texas’ 3rd smallest town and it’s right in the middle of its annual Christmas yard display contest. You’ll meet several of the town’s somewhat eccentric residents all played by Paul Pierce and Ron Anderson, as they live out the all the drama that come along with this yard display contest which is the highlight of everyone’s year in Tuna, Texas. It is a hilarious show and one you really don’t want to miss. There are performances now through December 23, so work it in your schedule if you possibly can. Tickets are $35. (706.327.3688)

If you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, it may not be too far fetched with this cold weather we’re having, but if you don’t want to take a chance, you’re certain to see a white Christmas at the Springer Opera House this Monday (Dec 20, 7:30pm). On a huge screen set up on their main stage, the Springer will show Irving Berlin’s 1954 musical classic, White Christmas.
