Paul “Bear” Bryant is a name synonymous with Alabama and with football. Just hearing his name can bring to mind the phrase “national championships.” Very few names in the history of sports can inspire the kind of awe as Bear’s does, no matter which college football team you pull for. Replicas of his trademark hat can be seen on the heads of hundreds of fans at games today. Fame followed him, tormented him and tempted him. Bear Country is a fantastic play that delves into the life of this extraordinary man and explores the wit, wisdom and wonder of Paul “Bear” Bryant who came from dirt-poor poverty to become the standard by which all college football coaches are judges today. Wow! Just saying that gave me chills.
