RiverCenter's Easterbrook Recognized by U.S. Army Field Band
Columbus, GA—RiverCenter’s Executive Director and CEO, Norman Easterbrook, was recognized with a special award from the U.S. Army Field Band this week.
Colonel Jim R. Keene, Commander and Conductor of the U.S. Army Field Band presented Easterbrook with the Commander’s Award for Public Service, awarding the citation and medal to Easterbrook on stage prior to the band’s concert at RiverCenter on Monday, March 5. The award is a civilian recognition of Easterbrook’s “outstanding patriotic support of the United States Army Field Band’s mission to honor our nation’s soldiers and veterans through music.”
In making the award, Colonel Keene cited Easterbrook’s fourteen years of support in sponsoring appearances of the Field Band, Soldier’s Chorus and Army Jazz Ambassadors, together with his dedication to arranging quality education and community outreach activities for the ensembles while on tour. Easterbrook has worked with all of the musical ensembles of the United States Armed Forces over the years in his former position as Director of the Ford Center at the University of Mississippi in Oxford. Since his move to Columbus a little more than two years ago, Easterbrook has continued his relationship with the ensembles to bring them to RiverCenter. Under Easterbrook’s leadership, RiverCenter has presented the President’s Own United States Marine Band and the Air Force Band and Singing Sergeants.
