Poplar Place Farm March Horse Trials Set for March 21-23, 2014

Hamilton, GA-3.20.2014:  The Poplar Place Farm Horse Trials will be held on March 21st-23rd. There will be 425 entries horses and riders competing in this prestigious event. Many riders have competed internationally for their homeland. Some of the countries that are being represented are the United States, Canada, England, Venezuela, and Holland. This is such a grand opportunity to meet and cheer for these riders!

Friday there will be 6 dressage rings for the competitors with the show hours from 8:30am-5:00pm.

This year will be a little different than previous years. The more advanced divisions will run Cross Country on Sunday, and will have their show jumping round on Saturday in the large show jumping ring. This gives a wonderful view of the riders and horses for the spectators as they sit under the tent, or they are free to walk the cross country course as the lower levels gallop their cross country course, or visit the horses and riders in the barn areas.  The lower levels will have their show jumping on Sunday. The show hours will also be from 8:30 to 5 on Saturday and Sunday.

This year we are so appreciative to have Callaway Gardens as our host hotel for the show officials. This is Callaway Gardens’ tenth year as our host hotel for this event! The officials love staying at Callaway Gardens, and enjoying the wonderful ambiance that is there.

Volunteers are need as scribes, jump crew, warm up stewards, and in-gate stewards for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.   If you volunteer, lunch, drinks, and snacks are provided along with a ticket to the competitors’ party on Saturday night.  If you wish to volunteer, or have any questions, please call Stacy Duncan at 706-566-1576.

The Tourism economic impact to our surrounding area is truly amazing. We want to thank the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau for their continued support of Poplar Place Farm, and the wonderful job they do in supporting all of the businesses in the tourism industry, as well as telling the public what a great community we live in!

There is no admission so we hope to see many local residents come out to this wonderful event. I love seeing new visitors come to these events- many do not realize what an amazing facility we have in our own backyard!
