The Bo Bartlett Center Grand Opening

The Bo Bartlett Center Grand Opening

The Bo Bartlett Center, a project now 15 years in the making, will finally get its big reveal on Thursday, Jan. 18, in the Corn Center for Visual Arts at Columbus State University.

The ribbon cutting will take place at noon by University President, Dr. Chris Markwood, Dean of the College of the Arts, Dr. Richard Baxter and the Center’s Executive Director, David W. Houston. Following will be performances by the Schwob School of Music, the Department of Theatre and the Dance Program at CSU throughout the afternoon.

American realist painter James “Bo” Bartlett III, regarded as one of the leading figurative painters of his generation, will display his mural-scale works in the 18,500 square foot facility designed by AIA award-winning architect, Tom Kundig. The center, located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River in Bartlett’s hometown of Columbus, will serve as a space for art and creativity and will include exhibition space for regional and national artists. It will display The Scarborough Collection, comprised of 14 monumental paintings by Bartlett. The Center will also house more than 300 of Bartlett’s paintings and will include a complete archive of his journals, sketchbooks, memorabilia, photographs and more.
