Common Grounds Luncheon

Tue, Aug 29, 2017

Today the South Commons is known as home to the Civic Center and Golden Park, but you might not realize the city was once surrounded by a greenbelt of public spaces. In 1828, the original city plan for Columbus reserved ample grounds at the edges of the street grid for civic and recreational endeavors. These areas were called the North, South, East and River Commons. Join us and architect Neil P. Clark for a discussion about our latest exhibition, "Common Grounds", as well as current and/or future uses for these spaces. Clark will share his experiences adapting the South Commons for the 1996 Olympics softball competition and reflect on the future of this communal space. Complimentary box lunches will be provided, but reservations are required. Can’t make the luncheon? Join us later this evening at Spring Harbor, 7 p.m.
