Guest Poetry Reading by Sue Brannan Walker
Columbus State University will welcome award-winning poet Dr. Sue Brannan Walker for a poetry reading on Wednesday, September 13th at 7:30p.m. Join us for a reading of Dr. Walker's collection It's Good Weather for Fudge: Conversing with Carson McCullers, a book-length poem inspired by literary icon and Columbus native Carson McCullers.
The reading will be held in the Arnold Hall Auditorium (Room 113) on CSU's Main Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Walker is the former Poet Laureate of Alabama, a Stokes Distinguished Professor of Creative Writing at the University of South Alabama, and the editor and publisher of Negative Capability Press. She is the winner of the Hackney Literary Award for fiction and the Alabama-Writer’s Conclave Play-Writing competition for her one-woman, one-act play based on the life of Mobile’s Madame Octavia LeVert.
Dr. Walker has published several collections of poetry, including It's Good Weather for Fudge: Conversing with Carson McCullers (NewSouth Books, 2003) and Blood Must Bear Your Name (Amherst Writers & Artists Press, 2002). She has also published more than forty critical articles and her work has been featured in more than fifteen anthologies.
