Go All Out for Dinner and a Play on a Winter Weekend

With the new year starting and the holidays behind us, it is time to begin anew and get back into some rhythm and routine. But, part of that routine should be regular excursions into the arts, food, music, and weekends spent relaxing, exploring, and recharging. Columbus enables you to do that in many ways, but one of the specific jewels of the city is the Springer Opera House and their amazing productions. Of Mice and Men is the next play up in the Springer schedule and taking in a performance over the next couple of weeks should be at the center of weekend plans.

The description of the adaptation of this classic Steinbeck novel:

Of Mice and Men is set in California during the Great Depression, and follows two migrant workers George, a sharp but uneducated, short-tempered man, and Lennie, a large but simple-minded man. Together they hope to one day acquire their own piece of land. But when Lennie stirs up trouble on the job, George must choose between protecting his friend or staying the course towards his version of the American dream.

Showtimes: January 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 at 7:30 PM & January 29 at 2:30 PM

And, before the play (or after), check out 11th and Bay, one of our favorite restaurants in Columbus. 11th and Bay is a “Southern table” restaurant that takes some of the best local fare that Georgia and the Deep South has to offer, combines it with a unique twist with culinary influences from around the world, and creates an experience that will leave you thinking about it months later. The photo is of their scallops that we had months ago and it is still remembered fondly! Time to go back for more!
